Miracle of Sight and Sound

miracle of sight and sound:

"think how rich life is, you have all these possibilities. i mean why aren't we just thinking blobs in space, that's it, no sight no sound? have you ever thought how miraculous it is we can see and hear? it makes the whole world possible. without sight you couldn't move and without sound you couldn't talk."

"it's wonderful, i agree. but i mean you can imagine a lesser life without sight and sound but it's much harder to imagine what more there could be, a sixth sense or even a seventh sense, that we don't have."

"yes, it's definitely easier to imagine less rather than more. really, i can imagine a much simpler life."

"maybe telepathy is the sixth sense."

"yeah. or what about precognition, knowing the future? you can sense and interpret all the variables now that determine the future."

"could be. but let's get back to seeing. i mean, it's all very well to say having two eyes creates depth, you know, the brain creates a 3D image from that. how does it really work?"

"right. the image we see really stretches forward from the head that far. i don't know. how is it rendered? is it projected? do you think it's computational?"

"computational seems really complicated. if it's projected, is what we see a magnification of a microimage?"

"like there are magnification lines to scale up the image."

"maybe. or it is computational. that's a powerful computer. it has to calculate every pixel in the field of vision."
